This is a question that a lot of our friends and colleagues have posed to us over the time we began to establish this organization. There are other parties to choose from, Green, Independant and so on. What sets you apart from the pack? Great question. Our interest is not to create a party, but encourage a movement of free thinkers and empower them to choose whether they want to be labeled or affiliated with one party when their ideals and beliefs comingle with others. How many times do you hear people say when they voted for a candidate because "I voted for the lesser of two evils" . Or when you ask them why they are affiliated with the party they registered as they answer with "because that is what my parents are" or "unless I choose one or the other my vote doesn't matter." I admit on few occasions someone will give you the exact reasons why but mostly the argument stems from why they are not a Republican or Democrat. I would also argue that those staunch party line followers will have differing opinions from their own party.
What we advocate for is education and change. Educate yourself on each candidate and vote on the person and not the party. We will advocate for change in legislation when it comes to those rules and regulations in place that make it difficult for our elected officials to vote their conscience and advocate for legislative change when it comes to term limits, fundraising, stock conflicts, etc.
Imagine a ballot with names with no indication as to what party that person was affiliated with. This would encourage people to research and compare. You are not required to indicate what party affiliation you are associated with on a job application so why would you for government office. This is our goal and this is what we advocate for. We hope that you will join us in our endeavor.
